A prophet sent by the LORD from Judah to Jeroboam’s new altar at Bethel. My orders: say what I was given to say, eat nothing, drink nothing, and go home a different way.

The king invited me home for a meal and a reward. Not for half your palace, I told him. The LORD said no bread and no water in this place, and go home a different way. So I did.
