That was me. In chains in Babylon, I begged the LORD my God and humbled myself before the God of my ancestors. I prayed. He listened. He brought me back to Jerusalem, to my kingdom. Now I know the LORD is God.
Hezekiah’s son Manasseh is twelve when he becomes king, and he reigns fifty-five years. He rebuilds the hilltop shrines his father tore down, puts up altars to the Baals, worships the stars and builds altars to them in both courts of the house of the LORD, and sets up a carved idol in the house of God itself. He leads Judah into worse than the nations the LORD drove out.

Fifty-five years. Now I know.
Son of Hezekiah, king of Judah at twelve. I undid everything my father did, and worse. Then I ended up in chains in Babylon.
