Jonathan’s son. Can’t believe I eat at the king’s table.

Son of Jonathan, grandson of King Saul. I was five when the news came from Jezreel. My nurse ran with me and I fell, and I’ve been lame in both feet since. I grew up out of sight in Lo-debar. Then King David sent for me.

I was five when the news came about my grandfather Saul and my father Jonathan. My nurse grabbed me and ran, and I fell. I’ve been lame ever since.

Brought before the king. I bowed to the ground. He told me not to be afraid, and that I’ll eat at his table, always. Asked him why he’d even look at a dead dog like me.

And that’s how it’s been ever since. I eat at the king’s table like one of his own sons.

The king said to split the land with Ziba. He can have the lot. The king’s home safe.
