Shortest book in the Old Testament. One message.
A prophet with one message, for Edom: the nation descended from Esau, Jacob's twin brother, living up in the red rock mountains south-east of Judah. When Jerusalem fell, Edom stood and watched, and then joined in. Twenty-one verses. That's all I wrote.

Edom, living up in the clefts of the rock, high as you can get, thinking who could ever bring you down. Your pride has fooled you. Soar like an eagle, build your nest among the stars, and the LORD says he'll bring you down from there.

If thieves broke in at night, they'd only take what they wanted. If grape-pickers came, they'd leave a few bunches. Esau is going to be searched to the last hidden treasure.
You were just like one of them. You shouldn't have gloated on your brother's worst day. Shouldn't have laughed at Judah when it was being destroyed. Shouldn't have walked through my people's gate and helped yourselves.
