Who is the LORD?

King of Egypt, ruler of the Nile, and I don’t take orders from a slave people’s God. Two brothers keep turning up at my court asking me to let their people go. I’ve made them some very reasonable offers.

Who is this LORD, and why exactly should I obey him? I am not acquainted with him. And I will not be letting Israel go.

Very well. This time I have sinned. The LORD is in the right, and my people and I are in the wrong. Enough thunder and hail. They may go.

Summoned Moses and Aaron urgently. I have sinned against the LORD their God, and against them. I asked them to forgive me just this once more, and to pray for this deadly plague to be taken away from me.

Up. Leave my people, you and the Israelites. Go and worship the LORD, as you asked. Take your flocks and herds, as you said, and go. And bless me as well.

What have we done? We have released Israel from our service. We have lost our slaves.

What have we done? We have let Israel go. Who is going to serve us now?

They are wandering about lost out there. The desert has shut them in.
