Came to test him. Left without her breath.

Queen of Sheba, a trading kingdom far to the south, rich in spices and gold. I kept hearing about this king in Jerusalem and his wisdom, so I went to see for myself, with every hard question I had.

Came to Jerusalem to test this Solomon with hard questions. Brought quite the caravan: camels loaded with spices, gold, precious stones. Asked him everything that was on my mind. He answered every single one. Nothing stumped him.

Then the rest of it. The palace. The food on his table. How his officials sit, how his servants are dressed, his cupbearers, the burnt offerings at the house of the LORD. It took my breath away.

Everything I heard back home was true, and I didn’t believe it until I came and saw it for myself. They didn’t tell me the half of it. How happy your people must be, standing here every day listening to you. Praise the LORD your God, who delights in you and put you on Israel’s throne to do what’s fair and right.
