My eyes have seen it.

I live in Jerusalem. I’ve spent my life waiting for God to comfort Israel. The Holy Spirit told me I wouldn’t die before I saw the one God promised to send. So I kept waiting.

I was told I wouldn't die before I'd seen the Lord's Messiah. Today I held him. Lord, I can go now, at peace, just like you promised. I've seen your rescue with my own eyes.

I had to tell his mother the hard part, though. It's going to feel like a sword going right through her.

A couple came in with their baby. I took him in my arms. Lord, you can let me go now, in peace, like you promised. I’ve seen your rescue with my own eyes. A light for the nations, and the glory of your people Israel.

I blessed them. Then I had to tell his mother the hard part. Many in Israel will fall and rise because of this child. People will speak against him, and what’s in their hearts will come out. And it will be like a sword going right through her too.
