I saw who was by the fire.
I work at the high priest's house in Jerusalem. The night they brought the teacher from Galilee in, we lit a fire in the courtyard and sat round it. So did one of his men.

They've brought the teacher from Galilee to the high priest's house tonight. We've got a fire going in the middle of the courtyard. One of the servant girls just took a long look at a bloke sitting with us in the firelight. This man was with him, she said. He said he doesn't even know him.

A little later someone else spotted him. You're one of them too. Mate, I'm not, he said.

He was still talking when the rooster crowed.
