Followed a star. Worth it.

Star-watchers from the east. We saw a star rise and knew a king of the Jews had been born, so we travelled all the way to worship him. Matthew never says how many of us there were. There were three gifts, though.

  • Following the star to Bethlehem (Matthew 2:9)
  • Gold, frankincense and myrrh (Matthew 2:11)
  • Going home by another route (Matthew 2:12)

King Herod asked to see us. Privately. Wanted to know exactly when the star first appeared. Then he sent us on to Bethlehem and asked us to come back and tell him where the child is, so he can go and worship him too.

The Magi@themagi · Bethlehem

The star stopped right over the house. We were overjoyed. Saw the child with his mother Mary and knelt and worshipped him.

Gold, frankincense and myrrh. Then a dream warned us not to go back to Herod. So we didn’t. Took another road home.

We saw his star rise in the east, back home. We’ve come a very long way to worship him. Does nobody here know?

The Magi@themagi

Just out of Jerusalem and there it is. The star. The same one we saw rise back home. It’s going on ahead of us.

It has stopped. Right over one house. We cannot stop smiling.

The Magi@themagi · Bethlehem

We found him. The child, with his mother Mary. We knelt down and worshipped him. Then we opened our treasures for him. Gold, frankincense and myrrh.
