Same answer I gave the first lot. Balak could give me his whole palace full of silver and gold and I still couldn’t go against what the LORD my God says.

I can only say what God puts in my mouth.
From Pethor, by the Euphrates. People travel a long way for my blessings and curses, and they pay well. The king of Moab wants Israel cursed. I keep telling him: I can only say what God puts in my mouth. He keeps finding me another hilltop.

Set off for Moab on my donkey, two of my servants with me. Three times she went off the road. She crushed my foot against a wall. Then she just lay down under me. Three times I beat her. Then she talked.

I told her if I had a sword I’d kill her. Then I had to admit she’d never done this before.
Then the LORD opened my eyes. The angel of the LORD, standing in the road with his sword drawn. He’d come out to block my way. He said if she hadn’t turned away, I’d be dead and she’d be alive. I said I’d sinned.

I’m here now, aren’t I? But I can only say what God puts in my mouth.
God isn’t a man. He doesn’t lie, and he doesn’t change his mind. If he says it, he does it. If he promises it, it happens.
