Hadassah to my family. Queen of Persia to everyone else.
Jewish, daughter of Abihail, from the tribe of Benjamin. My Hebrew name is Hadassah. My parents died when I was young, and my cousin Mordecai raised me as his daughter. I was taken into the king's harem at Susa with the other young women, and the king made me queen.

The king has given me Haman's estate. I told him who Mordecai is to me. He's given Mordecai his signet ring, the one he took back from Haman. And I've put Mordecai in charge of Haman's estate.
Went back to the king. Fell at his feet crying. Haman's letters are still out there, and the day is still coming. How can I watch my people be destroyed? He held out the sceptre again.

I've written too, with full authority, to confirm it.
That was me. He looked up and saw me standing there, and he held out the gold sceptre. I walked up and touched the tip of it.

It’s not over. Haman’s letters are still out there, and the day’s still coming. Went back in to the king. Fell at his feet and cried. How can I watch my own people be destroyed?
Mordecai and I have written again, with full authority, to confirm it. The days of Purim, at their set time, every year.
To every Jew in every province, near and far. Keep the fourteenth and the fifteenth of Adar, every year. The days we got rest from our enemies. The month our sorrow turned into joy, and our mourning into a holiday. Feast. Send each other food. Give to the poor.
