Elisha’s servant. Ran a lot of errands. Ran one too many.

Servant to the prophet Elisha. I was there for the Shunammite’s son, and for Naaman. Later the king liked to hear me tell the stories.

Elisha wanted to do something for the woman who built him the room. Put in a word for her with the king? The army commander? She said she’s fine where she is, among her own people. So I pointed out the obvious: she’s got no son, and her husband’s old.

She rode all the way to Mount Carmel. Elisha saw her coming and sent me to ask: are you all right? Your husband? The boy? It’s all right, she said. Then she got to him and grabbed hold of his feet. I went to push her away. He said: leave her alone. She’s in real distress, and the LORD hasn’t told me why.

He sent me on ahead with his staff to lay on the boy’s face. Don’t stop to greet anyone on the road. I did it. Nothing. Not a sound. The boy hasn’t woken up.

I was literally in the middle of telling the king about her boy when she walked in. Had to say it: Your Majesty, that’s her! And that’s the son!
