On duty that morning.
One of the soldiers posted to guard the sealed tomb outside Jerusalem. I know what I saw that morning. I also know what I’m supposed to say.

Day after the crucifixion, and I’m on tomb duty. The chief priests and Pharisees went to Pilate this morning. Apparently the man in there said he’d rise after three days, and they don’t want his disciples stealing the body and claiming he did. So the stone’s sealed and we’re posted outside. Orders are orders.

Earthquake. Then an angel. Face like lightning, clothes white as snow. Rolled the stone back and sat on it. We shook and went down like dead men.
For anyone asking: his disciples came in the night and stole the body while we were asleep.
