Day seven. The king had had a fair bit to drink, and sent seven of us to bring Queen Vashti, wearing her crown, so the people and officials could see how beautiful she is. She was giving her own banquet for the women inside the palace at the time.

Eunuch of the king. Knew about the gallows.
One of the seven eunuchs who serve King Xerxes (the book spells me Harbona the first time). I was sent to fetch Queen Vashti at the start of all this, and I was in the banquet hall at the end of it.

She said no.
Second dinner at the queen's. The king asked her again what she wants, up to half the kingdom. She asked for her life. And her people's. They've been sold to be destroyed, she said. If it had only been slavery she'd have kept quiet.

The king asked who. Who would dare? She said: the enemy is this evil man. Haman. Haman was terrified.

The king got up furious and went out into the garden. Haman stayed behind to beg the queen for his life. The king came back just as Haman was falling onto the couch where she was lying. The king shouted: is he going to attack the queen, in my own palace? They covered Haman's face.
Mentioned this to the king. Seemed relevant. It's a gallows, fifty cubits high, at Haman's house. He built it for Mordecai, the man whose report saved the king.
Okay, what are they building at Haman's house? It's massive. Fifty cubits high, about twenty-three metres.Day seven. The king’s had plenty of wine and he’s in a great mood. He’s sent seven of us, me included, to bring Queen Vashti out in her crown, so the people and the officials can see how beautiful she is.

Another dinner.
Second dinner at the queen’s. I’m on duty. The king asked her again: what do you want? Up to half the kingdom, it’s yours.

She asked for her life. And her people’s lives. They’ve been sold to be destroyed, she said. If it had only been slavery, she’d have kept quiet and not bothered the king.

The king: who is he? Where is the man who’d dare to do this?

She said the enemy is this wicked Haman. Haman is terrified.
The king got up from the wine in a fury and went out into the palace garden. Haman stayed behind, begging the queen for his life.

The king came back in just as Haman was falling onto the couch where the queen was. The king’s words: would he even attack the queen, here in my own palace? As soon as he said it, they covered Haman’s face.
Mentioned to the king: there’s a gallows fifty cubits high at Haman’s house. He had it built for Mordecai, the man whose report saved the king.
Job on at Haman’s house tonight. A gallows. Fifty cubits high. That’s a big build.
