The king's men came knocking. Yes, two men came. No, I didn't know where they were from. They left at dusk, just before the gate shut. No idea which way. Go now and you'll catch them.

The house in the wall. Look for the red cord.
I lived in Jericho, in a house built into the city wall. Everyone knew what I did for a living. When two Israelite spies came to my door, I hid them, because I knew their God was the real one. That choice saved my whole family.

They kept their word. All of us. My father, my mother, my brothers. I live among Israel now.
She made us swear to save her family, then let us down the wall on a rope from her window. Read the small print, though: red cord tied in that window, and everyone inside the house. Anyone out in the street is on their own.I welcomed the spies as friends. So I didn’t die with the people who wouldn’t listen.

My whole family’s at my house now. My father, my mother, my brothers and sisters, and everyone who belongs to them.

Not for anything.
When I told the king’s men to hurry, the two of them were right above us, on my roof. I hid them because I knew their God is God, up in heaven and down here on earth. They swore they’d save us. They did.
