Our passenger from Israel was down in the hold. Asleep. In this. I went down and woke him. How can you sleep? Get up and call on your god. Maybe he'll notice us and we won't die.

Joppa to Tarshish. Normally a quiet run.
Master of a trading ship out of Joppa, bound for Tarshish, about as far west as anyone sails. Crew from all over, every man with his own god. Took on a passenger from Israel who paid his fare and went straight below.

Every one of us was terrified of the LORD after that. We offered him a sacrifice and made him vows. Men who'd each been crying out to their own god.

Keep pulling.
We’ve offered a sacrifice to the LORD and every man has made him vows. The same men who were each shouting to their own god.
We made our vows to the LORD too. Out on the water, the day we threw you in.
I’ll thank you out loud. I’ll sacrifice to you. I’ll keep my vow. Salvation comes from the LORD.
