Picked for the job. Found out later what the job was.
Joshua chose twelve men, one from each tribe, to carry stones out of the middle of the Jordan. I was one of them. The Bible doesn’t give our names.

Now I know what I was picked for. Back out to the middle of the riverbed, where the priests are standing, and pick up a stone. On my shoulder.

Twelve of us, twelve stones, one for each tribe. We carry them to wherever we sleep tonight.
