Delivered the letter from Jerusalem. They read it out and the whole church was so glad.

Sang in prison.
One of the leaders of the church in Jerusalem, and a prophet. Also a Roman citizen, which turned out to matter. They sent me to Antioch with the letter about non-Jewish believers. Then Paul asked me to go travelling with him. Peter calls me Silvanus, the longer form of my name.

Stripped, beaten with rods, thrown in the inner cell with our feet in the stocks. Around midnight Paul and I were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening. Then an earthquake. Every door opened. Everyone’s chains came loose.

Philippi. Beaten with rods, then thrown in prison. I was right there with him. Same rods.

Night and day. He’s not exaggerating.
Peter’s written this through me, Silvanus. He calls it short. He wants you to know this is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it.

Asia shut. Bithynia shut. And now this. I think we know where we’re meant to be going.
