Okay, what is this? He tells evil spirits to go, and they actually go.

And they go.
I go to the synagogue in Capernaum every Sabbath. Nothing much ever happens. Then Jesus came to teach, and a man with an evil spirit started screaming.

Sabbath, our weekly day of rest, and the synagogue’s full. The new teacher from Nazareth is teaching this morning.
He doesn’t teach like our teachers of the law. They tell you what the great teachers before them said. He just tells you. Like it’s his to say.

It threw the man down in front of everyone, shrieked, and came out. It’s gone.

Nobody’s moved. Everyone’s just turning to the person next to them, asking the same thing.

Same as this morning. They know who he is.

Which is easier, he asked them. To tell this man his sins are forgiven, or to tell him get up and walk?
