One of the royal officials who sit at the king’s gate, where the business of the palace comes and goes. I work next to Mordecai. The Bible doesn’t name me.

Asked Mordecai why he’s ignoring the king’s order. Asked him again the next day. And the next. He won’t bow. Says he’s a Jew.
