What kind of man is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him.

Together. Every day.
The people who follow Jesus. First about a hundred and twenty of us in one upstairs room in Jerusalem, then thousands. We eat together, pray together, and share what we’ve got. Later, in Antioch, people start calling us Christians.
Jerusalem, then everywhereFirst seen Acts 1:6

What kind of man is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him.
Replying to @jesus
He didn’t make it sound easy. Courts, floggings, being hated. He said all of it.
Replying to @jesus
He explained it to us later. The thorns are worry, and money promising more than it gives. The good soil is someone who hears it and understands it.
Replying to @simonpeter
When we got back in the boat, the wind dropped. We worshipped him. You really are the Son of God.
Replying to @jesus
To be fair, we did tell him the Pharisees were offended by that one.
Replying to @crumbsfromthetable
In our defence, you really did keep shouting after us.
Replying to @jesus
We’d forgotten to bring bread, so we assumed that’s what he meant.
We’d asked him why we couldn’t drive it out. This was the answer. Too little faith.
If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, “Move,” and it will move.Replying to @pharisee.judea
Honestly, if that’s how it is, maybe it’s better not to marry.
Replying to @jesus
Wait, what? Then who can possibly be saved?
Replying to @zebedeeswife
The other ten of us heard about this. Not impressed with those two.
He told a fig tree with nothing but leaves on it that it would never bear fruit again. It withered on the spot. How?
We were pointing out the temple buildings to him. All of it. He said not one stone here will be left on another.
Replying to @thebelievers
So we asked him later, on the Mount of Olives: when?
Replying to @alabasterjar
What a waste. That could have been sold and given to the poor.
Replying to @simonpeter
We all said the same.
Replying to @jesus
Asked him afterwards what it meant. He said if we don’t get this one, how will we get any of them? Fair 😅
Replying to @touchedhiscloak
Then he stops and asks who touched him. In a crowd that’s literally pushing against him.
Replying to @thebelievers
Update: it worked. Evil spirits driven out, sick people anointed with oil and healed.
Straining at the oars, wind against us. Before dawn, there he is, walking on the water. Looked like he was going to walk right past us. We screamed. Thought he was a ghost.
Replying to @thebelievers
He called out to us. “Be brave. It’s me. Don’t be afraid.” He got in the boat and the wind dropped.
Replying to @helpmyunbelief
We couldn’t drive it out. He said this kind only comes out by prayer.
Replying to @jesus
We didn’t get it. And were scared to ask.
He asked what we’d been arguing about on the road. Nobody said a word. It was about which of us is the greatest.
So apparently James and John have asked to sit at his right and left in his glory. The rest of us are fuming.
Replying to @jameszebedee
Then he got us all together and said whoever wants to be great among you must be your servant.
He sent two of us into the village ahead to untie a colt nobody’s ever ridden and bring it to him. Someone asked what we were doing. We said the Lord needs it. They let us take it.
Rich people putting in loads. A poor widow puts in two tiny coins. He called us over: she’s put in more than all of them. It was everything she had.
She told us. We didn’t believe her.
He’s alive. I’ve seen him.One of us asked him to teach us to pray. This is what he gave us: Father, may your name be kept holy. May your kingdom come. Give us the bread we need each day. Forgive our sins, because we forgive everyone who wrongs us. And don't lead us into temptation.
He talked to us about worry for a while. The ravens bit stuck with me. They don't plant or harvest, and God feeds them. And the wild flowers: Solomon at his most splendid wasn't dressed as well as one of them.
We asked him to give us more faith. He said if we had faith as small as a mustard seed, we could tell this mulberry tree to pull itself up and plant itself in the sea, and it would.
He took the twelve of us aside. In Jerusalem he'll be handed over, mocked, spat on, flogged and killed. And on the third day he'll rise again. We didn't understand any of it. It was hidden from us.
Coming down the Mount of Olives, cloaks spread on the road, and all of us praising God at the top of our voices for every miracle we'd seen. The King is here, the one who comes in the Lord's name!
Replying to @jesus
We started asking each other which of us it could be. And then, the same night, we ended up arguing about which of us was the greatest.
Judas, one of the Twelve, came with a crowd behind him and walked up to kiss him. Jesus asked him if he was really betraying the Son of Man with a kiss.

One of us cut off the high priest's servant's right ear. Jesus said, “No more of this,” and touched the ear and healed him.
He was just there, standing among us. “Peace be with you.” We thought we were seeing a ghost. He told us to touch him and see. A ghost doesn't have flesh and bones.
Replying to @johnzebedee
It made us think of the psalm, the one about being eaten up with passion for God's house.
Replying to @johnzebedee
We got back from town and he was talking with a woman. Surprised us. Nobody asked why, though.
We kept telling him to eat something. He said he has food we know nothing about. Did someone already bring him some?
He said our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep and he's going to wake him up. We said, well, if he's sleeping he'll get better. He meant Lazarus had died. He had to tell us plainly: Lazarus is dead.
Replying to @johnzebedee
None of us got it. He kept the money, so we thought he'd been sent to buy things for the feast.
Replying to @thomasthetwin
We're not making it up, Thomas. We've seen the Lord.
Replying to @simonpeter
We'll come with you.
Replying to @luke
Nobody is taking this lightly. The whole church is afraid.
Replying to @matthew
He keeps saying things like this. None of us really get what he means, and nobody wants to be the one to ask.
Replying to @simonpeter
Everyone going round the table. It’s not me, is it?
And then, the same night, we got into an argument about which of us is the greatest. Yes. That night.
Replying to @marymagdalene
Sounded like nonsense. We didn’t believe them.
He led us out as far as Bethany, lifted his hands and blessed us. And while he was blessing us, he was taken up. A cloud hid him, and he was gone.
It’s getting late and we’re in the middle of nowhere. Told him to send everyone off to the villages round here to buy themselves food.
Replying to @jameszebedee
He’s sent us round to see how many loaves we’ve got.
Replying to @simonpeter
How’s he getting across, then?
Replying to @andrew
It’s a ghost!
Replying to @bethany.messenger
So he’ll be all right, then.
Replying to @johnzebedee
He hasn’t said why.
Replying to @thebelievers
Not sure that answers the question.
Then he says our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, and he’s going to wake him up. We said, Lord, if he’s sleeping, he’ll get better. That’s good news, surely?
Replying to @thebelievers
So he told us plainly. Lazarus is dead.
He’s stopped going around in public. We’ve gone out to Ephraim, a small town on the edge of the wilderness. Just him and us.
Replying to @colt.owner
Found it exactly where he said we would.
He’s riding a young donkey. People are throwing their cloaks down on the road in front of him. Others are spreading branches.
Coming down the hill now, all of us praising God at the top of our voices for every miracle we’ve seen. Peace in heaven! Glory in the highest!
He went into the temple and looked around at everything. It’s late now. We’re heading back out to Bethany for the night.
Replying to @simonpeter
Two names put forward. Joseph Barsabbas, the one we call Justus, and Matthias. We prayed and asked the Lord, who knows everyone’s heart, to show us which one he’s chosen. Then we drew lots.
All of us together in the house. Then a sound from the sky like a violent wind, and it fills the whole place. Then something like flames of fire, splitting apart and settling on each one of us. And we’re all speaking. In languages none of us have ever learnt.
What a day looks like now: 1. Listening to the apostles teach. 2. Eating together. 3. Praying. 4. More people joining. Every single day.
Nobody here goes without. People are selling what they own and sharing the money with anyone who needs it.
Peter and John are back and told us everything the chief priests said. So we all prayed together. Asked God to look at their threats, to give us the nerve to keep speaking, and to keep healing in Jesus’ name. When we finished, the whole place shook.
Replying to @thebelievers
What we prayed, more or less: Herod, Pilate, the nations and our own people all lined up against Jesus, right here in this city. And they only did what God had already decided would happen.
Replying to @thebelievers
Shook. And every one of us filled with the Holy Spirit and speaking out without a shred of fear.
Nobody here says ‘that’s mine’. Anyone who owns land or a house sells it, brings the money and lays it at the apostles’ feet, and it’s shared out to whoever needs it. There isn’t one person among us in need.
Replying to @greekspeaker
There are so many of us now. Things are falling through the cracks.
Seven chosen. Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit. Philip. And five more. The apostles prayed and put their hands on them.
Replying to @jerusalem.local
All of us except the apostles. They’re staying.
Replying to @barnabas
He’s staying with us.
Replying to @jerusalem.believer
Then we get him out.
